The former SafePharm Laboratories was established in 1971 and grew to become a leading Contract Research Organisation for the testing and registration of chemicals. As a privately owned business, SafePharm Laboratories prided itself on providing high quality science with a focus on customer satisfaction.
From the same family roots, SafePharm Consultants was launched to build on the success that was SafePharm Laboratories. We aim to again provide the ultimate service in both scientific quality and customer satisfaction.
With over 30 years experience within the industry, we have the knowledge and experience to provide a specialised ecotoxicology and biodegradation service for you and your business.
We have many contacts globally in regulatory bodies, industry and non-government organisations which enable us to provide the help and advice that is required for other scientific disciplines.
CHRIS MEAD
Chris started at SafePharm Laboratories in 1988 as a laboratory technician in the Ecotoxicology Department. Gaining experience in the conduct of aquatic toxicology and biodegradation tests, he became a Study Director for such studies in 1991.
During this time Chris was responsible for the testing of hundreds of different industrial chemicals, biocides, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. Specific experience was gained in the testing of difficult substances with physico-chemical properties such as low aqueous solubility, hydrolytic instability and coloured substances. Techniques learnt in the laboratory were applied to both aquatic toxicology and biodegradation tests.
In 2010, Chris became Manager of the Ecotoxicology Department and continued to develop methods for the testing of difficult substances. Chris was actively involved in the current revision to the OECD Guidance Document on the Aqueous-Phase Aquatic Toxicity Testing of Difficult Test Chemicals.
Chris gained his BSc in Biological Sciences in 1994 from Nottingham Trent University and regularly attends conferences such as SETAC where he has presented many times.
Chris founded SafePharm Consultants in 2018 with the aim of continuing to provide quality advice and service for your business.
